Privacy Policy

WhereIsISS (whereisiss.com) is a free, real-time tracker for the International Space Station and other spacecraft. There are no accounts, no ads, and nothing to sign up for. This page explains the little data that is involved.
What we collect
- Anonymous usage statistics. We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and understand how the tracker is used: pages viewed, referring site, approximate country, device type, and actions such as switching between 3D and 2D or choosing a spacecraft. Google Analytics uses cookies for this. We don't receive your name, email or precise location from it.
- Nothing personal. We never ask for an email, name or account, and we don't sell or share personal data.
Your location
"When can I see it?" uses your device's location only if you allow it. Pass times are calculated on your device; your location is never sent to our server or stored by us. You can withdraw permission at any time in your browser settings.
Services your browser talks to
To show live data, your browser loads information from these providers. Each has its own privacy policy:
- whereisiss.com (Hostinger): the app itself and orbital data.
- GitHub (raw.githubusercontent.com): our public mirror of orbital elements, and crew information from the open-source international-space-station-APIs project.
- CelesTrak (celestrak.org): official orbital elements, used if our mirror is unavailable.
- OpenFreeMap (tiles.openfreemap.org): map tiles for the 2D view.
- Wikimedia (upload.wikimedia.org): astronaut portraits.
- Google: Analytics, as described above.
Cookies and storage
Google Analytics sets cookies to tell visits apart. The app may also keep the latest orbital data in your browser's storage so it loads when a provider is busy. That data is about satellites, not about you. You can clear both in your browser settings, or block analytics with any common content blocker; the tracker keeps working.
Your rights
Because we don't hold personal data about you, there is no profile to access, correct or delete. For Google Analytics data, see Google's privacy policy and the Analytics opt-out add-on.
